Time for a Cuppa Anyone?

By 26 February 2020Borough Care News

Dementia UK is a charity that provides specialist dementia support for families through the Admiral Nurse service.

When things get challenging for people with dementia, and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them. They give the compassionate one-to-one support, guidance and practical solutions that people need.

They also run a national Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline. It is staffed by experienced Admiral Nurses and is for family members, professional carers, people with dementia and those worried about their memory.

This March, we’re supporting Dementia UK’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ week by hosting tea parties across our homes in aid of this important charity. It’s the perfect occasion to get together with friends and family over a cuppa and some cake, whilst raising money to help dementia specialist nurses to support more families facing dementia.

Silverdale held a cake sale on Sunday, making the most of families coming to visit their loved ones, to raise vital funds.

Marbury House also got the best china out to host a tea party for residents and their families.

If you’d like to get involved, Lisburne Court will be hosting a cake sale and dementia information session on 7 March. It is open to residents, friends and family, as well as the wider community. They will be offering Dementia Friend training sessions for those looking to raise their own awareness and better support those living with dementia.

If you’d like to donate to this amazing cause you can do so on the Dementia UK website.
