This week at Borough Care – Christmas markets & performances

By 9 December 2021Borough Care News

We’re back this week with another festive installment of our weekly round-up. This week, it looks like all of our homes are really getting into the seasonal spirit. They’ve taken trips to Christmas markets, enjoyed festive performances, wrapped up in cosy jumpers and even hosted their own elf-themed event. Let’s take a look at the fun.

A trip to the Christmas markets

The Christmas festivities were in full swing this week at Silverdale as residents took a trip to the in-house Christmas market! The wonderful ALFs (Activity and Lifestyle Facilitators) spent weeks putting everything together, and it certainly looks like their hard work paid off. Residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon of treats including chocolates, mince pies, hot dogs and, of course, some festive hot chocolates too – the ALFs even organised some reindeer treats! To top off the lovely afternoon, the residents sat down with a seasonal glass of sherry.

Christmas pantomimes

Lisburne Court residents were treated to a live Christmas pantomime performance this week! The residents gathered in the lounge to watch the magnificent show and enjoyed singing along to a festive of their favourite Christmas songs.

A birthday boogie

Along with all of their Christmas fun, Lisburne Court also celebrated resident Joseph’s 94th birthday. To mark the occasion, everyone spent the afternoon singing karaoke and dancing! Here’s a lovely shot of Joseph opening one of his birthday presents.

Christmas cosies

Over at Reinbek, residents and staff had their very own Christmas jumper day. Everyone dressed up in their cosiest Christmas jumpers and took a few festive photos!

Elf Day

On Friday, Cawood House hosted some fantastic Elf Day celebrations as part of the fundraising that they’ve been doing in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. The residents and staff enjoyed a fun-filled day which included an elf hunt and some arts and crafts. Everyone had a great time getting involved, and the team were so pleased to exceed their targets!

Bruce Lodge also joined in with Elf Day by dressing up in festive costumes and creating some seasonal crafts.

Here’s Maureen wearing a festive hat and Joan posing with her handmade paper chains!

Until next week!

We’ve loved catching up with our homes this week and seeing how successful Elf Day was this year. We hope you enjoyed joining us this time. If you’d like to keep up to date with the latest Borough Care news, make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
