The Alzheimer’s Society Guide to Dementia

dementia guide

Being diagnosed with dementia can be a frightening and overwhelming experience, both for those living with dementia and those caring for them. The Alzheimer’s Society have produced a detailed guide to dementia diagnosis and living with the disease that is a great starting point or ongoing resource to help during this time.

The guide explains clearly the different dementia diagnosis, the treatments available, how to live well, how to plan ahead, resources for those living with dementia and their carers, the latest research, as well as how the Alzheimer’s Society and other useful organisations can help.

At Borough Care we are also committed to helping during this difficult time in any way we can. Our highly trained and compassionate staff are experts in dementia and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to caring and helping residents live their best possible lives.

Our monthly resident meetings, taking place at Wellcroft, offer expert advice and guidance on issues such as carer support, finances and have regular information sessions with partner organisations that are here to help. To find out about the next meeting ring the Wellcroft office on 0161 428 5361.

Our packed timetable of activities and excursions are dementia friendly and informed by the latest research, including pet therapy where live animals are brought into the home, community visits including schools, toddler groups and even biker groups to keep our residents connected and to meet new people, and excursions to nostalgic locations such as Southport and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
