Inside Our Glorious Gardens for National Gardening Week

As it is National Gardening Week this week (and the last five weeks of lockdown has turned the nation into avid gardeners!) we thought you might like to see some of the glorious, garden activities we’ve been enjoying over the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully it will provide you with some inspiration for activities you can enjoy with your family in the back garden, as well as reassure you that , wherever possible, your loved one is getting plenty of fresh air, exercise, sunshine and #lifeincolour while they are isolating with us.

Here are a fun-loving crew from Wellcroft getting their hands dirty by potting some beautiful spring flowers! As well as doing a bit of weeding and maintenance in the beautiful spring sunshine.

Residents and staff at both Wellcroft and Bruce Lodge have been getting competitive with some garden games – boules anyone?

Albert, who lives at Bruce Lodge, has particularly enjoyed filling up the bird feeder, while Beryl has been enjoying blowing some bubbles – bringing back happy memories from her childhood.

Over at Cawood House, we received a very special gift from local gardening and allotment group, ‘Green Thumbs’, who gifted us some gorgeous bedding plants that they potted in our planters. Now, everywhere you turn at Cawood House, is a riot of spring colour! Thank you so much to Julie Eastwood Loftus and Lucy Eyles for thinking of our residents during this time.

Although isolation continues to be a challenging time for our residents, and for their families, the gardens have been a welcome and healthy distraction. We’d love you to share some photos of your glorious gardens, which we can share and inspire our residents with.  Post your pictures on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag us @boroughcare.
