Christmas Tea Dance

By 13 December 2019Borough Care News

Each month we hold a Tea Dance, so residents from our homes can socialise with each other, their friends and family, and our staff. It is always a fun-filled occasion with delicious food, live entertainment and plenty of opportunities to dance. However, when Christmas comes around, the Tea Dance gets a festive makeover, with even more opportunity for fun and frivolity, to help get our residents into the Christmas spirit.

The Tea Dance always takes place at Offerton Community Centre and our Activity and Lifestyle Facilitators made sure the hall was looking its festive best with plenty of Christmas decorations.

Tables were set with Christmas crackers, Bucks Fizz and beautiful china teacups.

The Borough Care catering team pulled out all the stops to create a delicious festive meal with turkey and stuffing open sandwiches, followed by a choice of desserts – cheesecake or pavlova!

We had live entertainment from the ‘Doing Dementia Differently’ Choir – an intergenerational choir made up of school children, care home residents and those living with dementia. This was followed by live singing sensation, Andy, belting out Christmas classics that got the whole room ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’.

There was the opportunity to win big at our Christmas Tombola, with prizes including Christmas hampers, festive fizz, chocolates and toiletries.

There was also the opportunity to meet the main man himself, as Santa came down the chimney to gift each of our residents with a Christmas present.

Organiser Joanne Sherratt, our Activities and Lifestyle Facilitator at Lisburne Court, said: “The Christmas Tea Dance is a real highlight of Borough Care’s festive calendar. It is an event that residents, friends and family, staff and even members of the local community love to come along too. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spread some festive cheer and ensure we wish all our extended Borough Care family a very merry Christmas.”

Our Tea Dances take place on the second Monday of each month and are open to all residents and their friends and family. The next Tea Dance will take place on 13th January 2020 and we would love to see you there!
