In our determination to keeping your loved ones’ spirits high and creating a sense of normality and fun in our homes during lockdown, we’ve decided to get ‘stuck’ into British Sandwich Week.
That’s right, there’s a whole week dedicated to quite possibly the most iconic British culinary invention of all time…the sandwich.
We are a nation in love with this humble creation; over 4,000,000,000 sandwiches are purchased from UK retail or catering outlets each year, and the UK spends over £8,000,000,000 a year on sandwiches!
To celebrate this incredibly popular staple, the catering teams across our homes are singling out a delicious sandwich each day for our residents to enjoy.
On Monday, it’s pitta breads, filled with a huge variety of fillings.
On Tuesday, we’ll be enjoying open sandwiches: the convertible of the sandwich world!
Then, on Wednesday, it’s blooming marvellous bloomers.
If you think our appetites will be satisfied by Thursday, think again… Each home will be enjoying an afternoon tea complete with cucumber sandwiches and sweet treats.
Finally, on Friday, to finish off the week, we’re saying ‘It’s A Wrap’, with a platter of different flatbread wraps for lunch.
