Brilliant Memories this Year at Bryn Haven!

By 22 December 2022Borough Care News

Bryn Haven have had a wonderful 2022, with lots of great memories for staff, residents and their loved ones.

Let’s take a look back of some their best bits of 2022!

Earlier this year Bryn Haven decided to hold a “mix it up” Monday and switched up their activities for the day. The residents couldn’t decide what activities they wanted to do so they ended up doing a bit of everything! Some residents relaxed with a good book, some caught up on their colouring and others challenged the staff to a game of dominos.

The whole gang at Bryn Haven had a ball for St Patrick’s Day! Gail, who is one of the care assistants, brought in her music system and got dressed up for the part to entertain residents with some old Irish tunes. Everyone had a good old knees up and sang the afternoon away to celebrate!

ALF Rosie spent some one-on-one time with resident Donald at Bryn Haven during the Summer. Donald was a very active gardener at home, and Rosie has been helping him to get the herb and veg garden up and running at the care home. Together they planted basil, coriander, carrots, rocket and parsley, alongside some lovely hanging baskets for the patio area.

Residents had a fabulous time celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in June. They enjoyed a proper royal knees up – lots of singing and dancing with Senior Carer Gail on entertainment duties, followed by a wonderful buffet put together by cook Debbie. An amazing day a was had by all!

A little bit of rain didn’t stop Bryn Haven from having fun in July! Residents, along with carer Lauren, decided to make some ladybirds to brighten up the garden. They had such a fantastic time creating their designs and the result was absolutely beautiful.

Residents and staff at Bryn Haven celebrated Fran’s very special 80th birthday in July. They marked the occasion with a live performance and plenty of singing and dancing.

In August, Bryn Haven residents had a fabulous afternoon making their own lavender bags. Lavender bags are a great sensory activity – plus, the amazing smell filled up the whole home!

At Borough Care we live life in colour, and we embrace everyone! Over the last weekend in August, the city celebrated Manchester Pride Festival, and Bryn Haven had a fantastic party for staff, residents and their loved ones that was full of colour, love and joy! The rainbow flags were flying high and everyone enjoyed the amazing effort made by ALF Rosie and the Bryn Haven team.

In September, Bryn Haven had a visit from Wild Science who brought in lots of unusual creatures! Some residents’ families joined for the afternoon and everyone absolutely loved meeting and getting to hold all the different animals – even the snakes!

Residents got creative over a fun weekend in October! They really enjoyed working together to get their pumpkins ready for Halloween.

They also took a trip to SeaLife in October, and the residents had so much fun looking at all of the weird and wonderful creatures.

Bryn Haven’s residents made a beautiful poppy wreath for Remembrance Day in November. The wreath is proudly situated in the entrance hall for everyone to see.

Residents enjoyed wrapping up and going out for winter walks in November. They loved collecting leaves to bring back home and use as inspiration for their arts and crafts afternoons! We love these colourful creations they made.

Christmas has officially landed at Bryn Haven! The residents loved getting involved and seeing everything come together!
